Ella Rock is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ella, and the Ella Rock hike is a great way to explore and trek your way through the area. It is a thirty-minute drive from the hotel to the scenic Heel Oya railway station, which is the starting point, and it takes about three to four hours to complete the hike. We recommend leaving for the trek at 5 am in order to witness the most stunning sunrise at the summit overlooking the mountain, which is truly not to be missed.
The trek to Ella Rock is via a local village and monastery, followed by a visit to a Eucalyptus forest. We then visit the south side Ella Rock view point before proceeding to the second viewpoint, overlooking Ella town and Little Adam’s Peak. You can pause for a snack or meal at these view points before descending back down and returning to Orient hotel.
